Nation of dignity

If I have to define dignity for our state then my perception must be portraying a different meaning for it. Several articles and blogs have been in an endeavor to link dignity with the global world but very few have highlighted societal mindset towards dignity.

If we dig into people’s mind then our findings would reveal very inhumane and brutal sort of explanations for dignity. Our nation perceives dignity for those people, who possess political affiliation or government employees involved in embezzlement or tycoons conducting unethical activities or affluent hooligans or gigantic landlords. Our nation does respect these people and expose their existence with pride and dignity as they are bonded with immoral disciplines all around the country.

Let’s discuss ground level realities for a while. Why do we respect a police officer? Because he holds an authority to suppress an innocent and cover up the crimes. Why do we try to build acquaintances with a politician? Because he runs land mafia and holds immediate approach to parliament. Why do we have a high regard for gangsters or hooligans? Because we feel moral support by getting connected with them.

It’s a bitter reality that we have set standards for dignity and pride for those people who never deserved it. Whenever question comes regarding dignity of Pakistan, we always tend to respond with NATO, denying of Green Passport, India, Terrorism, Talibans and foremost USA.  It’s true that Pakistan has compromised on its dignity because our preferences are in favor of corrupt people. If we hadn’t supported crooked politicians earlier then we shouldn’t have been facing image problem. We as a nation define dignity for those people who are highly crooked and dishonest. If we are supporting those people since inception of Pakistan then we deserve to be kept in for insolent behavior.

Presently, we debate on that our higher authorities or nation presenters have comprised on dignity. Discussion is useless because we have associated the term “pride” to those people who are criminals, law breakers, wrongdoers, and crook, and they have been escalated with our support. If we have been supporting them at different levels then we should have also been anticipated compromise on country’s dignity.

We shouldn’t be cared about image problem which Pakistan is facing these days, because our society supports a brutal definition for dignity and pride. Moreover it’s cheerful to see Pakistan facing Image problem because it’s our perception and philosophies who has led the country to futile consequences.

It’s never too late; we need to change our thoughts, judgments, and beliefs so to have a fruitful supremacy. We need to associate dignity with honesty, sincerity, integrity and truthfulness. It’s our duty to support right person and protest against crooked officials.
