Karachi and the people who really care about it

This world is a unique and diverse place. There are different kinds of people, species and organisms in every nook and corner of the earth, just like that; there is a county on this planet by the name of Pakistan. This country came into being on 14 August, 1947. The first capital of this country was Karachi, which was also the hotspot and popular destination for most of the Indian immigrants who migrated from India to this new land. As a matter of fact, Quaid e Azam the founder of Pakistan, had this to say on 25th August, 1947:

“Karachi is a blessed city, and it has its unique attraction and the capacity to fend and sustain the millions of its inhabitants. I can say this with confidence that the day is not far when Karachi will be one of the leading cities of the world.”

Karachi is a coastal city of Pakistan that has a very pertinent coastal and geographical location, beyond he coats of Karachi there is Asia, the Far East and Africa. Also this city was uplifted for the first time when the MQM Mayor Dr. Farooq Sattar initiated mega projects for the city and this vision of MQM and Altaf Hussein was continued in 2004 with the advent of Mustafa Kamal as the Mayor of Karachi, who played a mammoth role in making Karachi one of the recognized and developed cities of the world.

Karachi is also known for its well developed and massive industrial hub, Korangi. This industrial estate is around 67% of Pakistan’s industrial activities. However the reciprocity in this case was quite negligible. The Habib Bank Chorangi which is a major route for cars and pedestrians was neglected by various governments. As a result many old, young people including women and children perished in vehicular accidents. However under the vision of Altaf Hussein, MQM Minister for industries Mr. Rauf Siddiqui developed the Hub Chowrangi flyover, and after its completion another pertinent vision of Altaf Hussein and the continuing public services of the MQM regardless of party affiliation, creed, race or religion was proven once again.

The Afza Altaf Flyover which is another milestone in terms of public service and contribution to the infrastructure of Karachi. This flyover was inaugurated by the Honorable Governor of Sind Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan and Provincial minister Rauf Siddiqui, who amidst a busy schedule was able to complete this landmark project in a record 132 days. The flyover, having capacity of bearing 225 tons of traffic at a time, was completed in 132 days, while work was done in two shifts.

It was the first flyover in the country having solar lights and latest colorful lightings and also at the same time there is enough space under the flyover for security check posts and pickets for law enforcement agencies like the Police and Rangers. Also there are adequate provisions for ambulances and emergency services in case of any disaster or calamity.

  1. Why is it that Karachi claims every thing to be 1st in Pakistan.

I remember The city nazim claimed the 1st parking plaza while there is one in Shahalam Market in Lahore since 90s.
I have seen many solar lights and even traffic lights since long in Punjab.
