How priorities change with decades

Hopefully, would get a good response by the audience as this blog must be a reflection of every one’s past. Childhood dreams are almost similar for every individual but with due time it gets revolutionize.

At the age of 7, most of the times I day dreamed to serve air force or military. As we resided in Islamabad for long, I developed close intimacy waiting 23rd march every year. It was awe-inspiring to imagine oneself in uniform or fooling around the sky. Ambition prevailed at the age of 12, when enthusiasm to become teacher reached at its peak. Unfortunately, enthusiasm was not supported by the knowledge that teachers possess, but due to holding higher authority which can be resourceful for scolding, yelling, and rebuking students. Eventually, I came out of this immature belief and geared potential to become an engineer or doctor in O-levels. Sunlight hours went by studying force, mass acceleration, bonding, molecules, histograms, and trigonometry. Fine scoring in O-levels sciences further boosted my eagerness towards engineering and white jacket. The other day, while on my way to school I got stuck in traffic due to Sit-in arranged by doctors besides services hospital. Doctors were in protest demanding increase in salary. I found career building in white jacket’s sector very horrific and unbeneficial. At the end of day, I consulted the career plan with my home tutor who was an electrical engineer from UET Lahore, but unemployed since 4 years. He was not a home tutor by profession but due to stagflation he had to opt for another line of work just to earn his own livelihood. At that moment, I fixed on to adjust my mind for another time and preferred accounts and economics. I found it very healthy studying economics and accounts in A-levels, as I was considering myself highly excelled in finance and accountancy.

At last, it was time to decide career plan and opted for graduation in finance. Correspondingly, in order to have enhanced knowledge of corporate, I concentrated on Human resource, as well. It was never too late, when I genuinely observed the corporate trend and appreciated lucrative opportunities lying with Marketing. Enrolled into Masters Program emphasizing intensely on marketing, and got proficient in conducting research work for university projects.

Audience, be patient it’s not the end yet, so far I was dealing with educational matters, but now I must leap forth towards professionalism. Holding marketing majors degree, I approached towards corporate sector and figured out myself being overqualified for the entry level jobs. In some cases, I even acted as a marketing consultant to the interviewer. It would be hilarious but in various interviews I drafted marketing plan for them but couldn’t join them, as I was always in the hunt for reputable post, and latterly got to know that they followed my plan for six months.

Here comes the turning point, eventually I decided to glue a bond with the development Sector. It’s been several months that I am working for this sector and never intending to leave it. It seems like I was meant for this sector for long but it took me a while to bridge the gap.

Basic purpose of this blog is not to underestimate or overvalue any professional degree or career. Just aiming to make it transparent that priorities get revolutionize.
