There are a growing number of people complaining about the quality of education. They say schools charging thousands of rupees but the student are not up to the mark. Parents are facing trouble with the behavioral problem of teenagers. As a whole society is much concern about the future of youth.
As we know that schools are the most important places which can easily shape the lives of youngsters. They have immense power to influence the personality of students. But it is very unfortunate that today our schools are badly failed to respond the challenges of 21st century.
Many questions are still unanswered. What make a school effective? What are the needs of students to fulfill? How student can learn and what should be the learning outcomes?
Our curriculum mostly based on cognitive side and gives importance to education rather than learning. This is true that problem lies on our approach of education.
So in this whole scenario the key question is “What we want from our courses and what types of students we want to develop.
No doubt schools are very good at academics. But in 21st century the need is much more and intensified these days. There is a big chasm between what education institutions are producing and what is the needed by the society.
School around the globe, are experiencing great changes. They are realizing that mere academic is not the answer we need to develop personality. We must adopt the approach of leadership development and should not merely focus on good grades of student.
There must be a new skills set to develop. We have to change our paradigm from educating to developing personality enabling students to solve the problem we faced today. It is my personal experience and observation working with schools in leadership development that if we provide leadership development opportunities to students their personality develop amazingly in a positive way.
Education focuses on providing child basic information of life. On the other side, development of personality focuses on the how to live a life.
We will discuss the problem and their solution in context of 21st century in detail in my upcoming blogs. We will also analyze what are new skills set and what is the concept behind developing a personality.

The training and nurturing of a child starts from the mother’s lap, today we are failed as an individual in all characters of social life, here characters means every person has different social characters, a male is a; son, father, brother likewise a female is a; mother, daughter and sister at the same time. Since we are failed in all these characters including the character of teacher, due to many reasons, parents are teachers of their children as well, especially mother’s role is very important in the character building of her children but she is failed in this character, I am not targeting females, rather I want to say both male and female as an individual failed to meet their responsibilities so we are facing these social and behavioural problems in our society, because societies are made by individuals. If we want to revive our social structure then we have to first make ourself accountable as an individual and make amends in our characters. Situation will improve for sure, as our society will be evil free so we would be a good nation and ultimately the leaders who are from our own society, they don’t come from any other world, will also be good. Its a positive symptom that we have started debating on our social evils, but lets start from our own characters instead of criticizing others.
