Our ruling elite: Master of art of deception

One of the numerous successes of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was that he proved with his exemplary life that our religion is the most caring about the under privileged people with the model of Zakat being one of the main pillars of our religion; a unique model in its sense prevails through which the funds raised would not go into the running affairs of the government but it is directed to cater to people who cannot fend for them selves.  Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) demonstrated living a simple life for us to learn from.

The reason I explain the above is not to give lecture on the religion but to highlight a sense of hypocrisy by many of our leaders through the many years of the evolution of our religion. Whereas our religion should have been the fort for the oppressed; it has unfortunately turned a blind eye to the masses. Though, we use rhetoric’s and talk about the misgivings of the poor of our nation. But what do we do to address the same, nothing. Whilst we all claim to be Muslims. But learn nothing from the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). I am sure all must be aware that after the demise of our Holy Prophet (PBUH); when the doors of the treasury were opened; there was nothing left in there as all was spent on the welfare of the people.

Since, I have seen the news that almost 100 people have died due to consuming medicine reaction in Lahore. I just pray that the number stays low as someone claimed on one of the news channels that 46,000 people might have been exposed to these types of medicines. The casualty is none again but the poor of our nation as they are the ones on this type of state welfare. How many rich would be affected from this? No one.

But its disgusting to see that with the impeding crisis the two major parties started blaming each other for the same. No party has presented any thing concurrent to address the same. Yet another commission form. We still await Dengue commission report. Sorry for being cynical but are we losing the value of life in our nation. Surprising to know that in a nation where over a billion pills are consumed on a daily basis. There is no drug regulatory authority; though an ineffective federal commission exists assuming only active to kickbacks on issuing new licenses. Can I take the liberty to say that are we Pakistanis Guinea Pigs for some major pharma companies for testing their formulas before being passed to sell for Western nations? Think about it.

Time and again I have heard the rhetoric’s. We will give justice to the people. We will give jobs to the people etc. etc. But, when they come into power. Nothing is done. How many hospitals or schools of international standard exist in the interior Sindh? Leave the whole Sindh. How many exist in Larkana/Naudero? With all the looted wealth. Couldn’t they have not built any facilities for their own people who have been voting for them with their eyes closed all these years. Lyari is another example. Similar examples for interior Punjab. Why parents of conjoined daughters have to come all the way to Karachi to get surgery? Why cant this happen somewhere in Sukkur or Nawabshah ?

Sometimes I think that why not PML-N and PPP has volunteer brigades like that of MQM i.e. Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation? Are these feudalistic parties lazy or they do not have the will? Why are they willing to serve their people with governments money only? MQM formed KKF only a few years after coming into existence proving that it’s a party of the masses; as we all saw that they were there at the time of Kashmir earthquakes, floods and the day to day requirements of the masses who could not afford wherever they are allowed to have their reach. Why couldn’t these big parties have created the same? And if they cant do it themselves; then at least other volunteer brigades reach out.

The problem is that we forget that before partition when a bulk of the feudal was on the imperialist payrolls. It was the educated and the poor class which was fighting for an independent Pakistan under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah. Ironic as it looks that the same stakeholders who sacrificed in terms of live and wealth have been sidelined.

The ruling elite of 2% come and talk about the poor again and again. Whilst they choose to live in their castles worth billions of rupee, driving around in posh cars, flying private jets for their campaigns (Imran has been doing that recently and so is Nawaz Sharif), getting treatments abroad (Zardari), their children being educated abroad (all i.e. Zardari, Nawaz and Imran). So much so not even drinking local bottled water. Where riding a bus is an adventure for them and sleeping of a Charpoi is a photo opportunity. How come they may know and understand the plight of the poor? Unfortunate that the poor and the lower class keep on voting yet again for them on the hope of false promises fulfilled that they are just contributing to the luxuries of our Kings and Queens. Leaders talk about the life of our Holy Prophet (PBUH) and yet learn nothing from it .

Anyways I have learned one thing for sure. Our leaders have mastered the Art of Deception and we are all jinxed by the same. Whereas we keep on ignoring the parties which can bring the real change because we are so worried about our tribal identity. I am not pessimistic about it and I pray for a ray at the end of the tunnel. When I sleep tonight the 100 dead poor patients of Lahore; those poor faces would be in my mind and a prayer to God that we get the true leaders which we deserve who do not loot and plunder us but give us back of what we deserve.

Due to the recent 100 innocent deaths in Punjab regarding the use of fake medicines  so far only low profile people like shopkeepers, pharmacists and some small distributors have been arrested. The idea is to silence the people and the media so that atleast the punjab government can show some steps being taken but still no big fish has so far been caught. Mr Khadim e Aala punjab as usual have suspended a couple of his sub-ordinates and we still think that at the rate he suspends his staff and still continues to do so how many total people has he hired that the list of suspensions does not stop. But while talking about all this let us not forget that the Khadim e Aala himself holds 18 ministeries under his belt as he could find any suitable people in his party to hand over the responsibility to anybody else. Has his party run out of responsible people or is he planning to set a new record..?
