‘Pakistan + I’

The story starts from when I was in university. I was in 3rd semester having a elective course named, “Communication skills” .Our Professor asked to give a three-minute presentation on “Pakistan.” The presentation had to be delivered individually so it was a bit difficult.

I selected five topics about Pakistan for the presentation but all of them were chosen by someone else before me, so I had to find a new topic. I was a bit confused and so I asked my professor to assist me in finding out a topic for the presentation. Upon this my teacher  gave me a very different and unique topic of his choice,
“ Strength of the word; Pakistani ”

I started thinking about the topic and write down various point about it. But the presentation was to be delivered on a single point of the topic due to time constraints. So having so many points about the topic and I was in mere confusion what to take or what to leave.

Week passed, but I was still indecisive what to say in the specified three minutes in order to get good marks in the presentation. I consulted few books in the library, talked to few class mates, exchanged few ideas with friends and searched the web, but all was in vain. My mind was still looking for that one idea that will amaze my every classmate and professor as well.

As the day of presentation came, my mind was still bewilder . My number was the 8th in the presentation so I sat in the class thinking deeply about what to say. I was afraid that I would be looking like a clown in the end if I didn’t find an appropriate idea. Choosing one idea from hundreds of ideas in your mind is just like finding a needle in a haystack.
As the 3rd presentation was going on, our professor told he needs some photocopies of assignment papers. I volunteered for that in a second as I definitely wanted fresh air.

The University photostate shop was closed so I have to go outside the university and across the road there was a shop. I was not in the mood as I had not found a suitable idea to present. But I went to the shop. There was 12 year old boy sitting on that shop, I asked him to copy, as the copies was in process. Another boy came in shop and start quarrelling with the shopkeeper boy. After exchange of few words, the boy in shop said, “I am not afraid of you .I have 16 crore people on my back protecting me.”

I took a step and persuaded both of them to stop quarreling. After the other boy left, I asked about the comment he made .He told me that we are Pakistani. The word is composed of two words

“Pakistan + I ”
Pakistan (16 crore people ) plus I (my self). So I have a backup of 16 crore people with me. When I am doing some work I told every one why are you afraid of saying the truth or the right thing .I thanked the boy, he was smiling .He didn’t know he gave me not an idea rather an ideology .I came back presented the same idea with some of my addings and I was praised by all.

Final Saying:
We don’t need an edict for saying positive things about Pakistan. I don’t know why we all are afraid of saying positive things about Pakistan; afraid of failure, afraid of letting other know, afraid of what people will say about it and the list goes on.

Try to do one good deed every single day for Pakistan, whether it a Tweet on Twitter about Pakistan or uploading a status on Facebook for Pakistan or any other social media sites , as half of the world have jaundiced views about Pakistan.
Don’t portrait negative things about Pakistan. Own Pakistan, own your own beautiful and blessed country.

I plead you all that don’t be afraid or owning your own beautiful country. Lets all praise Pakistan till our last breath and support it in a good way. You and I are simple Pakistanis and  proud Pakistanis as Pakistan has given us every thing we are today or whatever we will be.

In urdu : “ Jo Darkhart Phal nahi daita woh saya zaroor daita hain.”

God bless you Simy. Pakistan has given us everything we needed. We however are always shying away to say 'Thanks' to our beloved country. We will start getting back our dignity the day we start saying this thanks!

  2. Interesting Account Smaeer. and i believe the day we start to realize the fact that being a Pakistani means one for all all for one we will be on the right track. the national growth and success can only happen wen the equation remains tagged to Pakistan+ I. only "I" does not mean anything but selfishness.
